Who SHOULDN’T do deals
Let’s rub some of the shiny off…
James here.
Opening convos and making deals isn’t for everyone.
And that’s totally cool.
So let’s talk about some reasons the 30x5 Convo Method (and doing deals) might NOT be a fit.
1) Gotta talk to people.
At least by DM.
Preferably Zoom.
Is that cool with you?
I wouldn’t say I’m a “people person”…
…You won’t find me chatting up the person ahead of me in line at Walmart, but…
Put me with another marketer or online biz owner?
I get charged up.
An hour feels like minutes.
So while I don’t jaw with EVERYBODY…
I enjoy talking to people in my niche.
Someone who wants to open conversations and do deals?
Should probably feel the same.
2) Need ‘turn by turn’ directions before starting.
There’s no GPS to a convo.
While there are “mile markers” because people are fairly predictable…
Some things just can’t be planned.
There’ll be questions you don’t know how to answer…
…Situations no one could think of ahead of time, do happen.
I’ve found it helpful to remind myself:
“When you’re OK not being OK? You’ll be OK.”
(^This changed my life, btw.)
But driving without knowing every stop doesn’t work for everyone.
And that’s OK.
3) If roadblocks stop progress.
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve been told “NO”, been ghosted, or no-so-politely told to jump in a lake.
These setbacks have to be seen as small and temporary.
If they’re dwelled upon?
…And it takes days or weeks to ‘get back on the horse’...
Deal momentum dies.
Along with the desire to keep doing deals.
So getting up after we fall, and dusting ourselves off quickly, is super important.
Make sense?
There are other signs someone shouldn’t do deals but I’d say these are the biggest.
