Treasure hunting vs selling services
And when you find the loot it makes you both look like heroes.
Wayne here.
Most service providers approach business owners like deck hands looking to swab the deck of a pirate ship.
They’re helpful… they might say things like: "I can clean up your copy" or "Let me fix your marketing campaign so it flows smoother."
But in this situation...
The captain has to reach into his pocket and pay out some of his booty.
That's an expense he has to cover upfront.
People (even pirates:-) get defensive about paying for improvements to what's already working.
But if we ask to come aboard the ship and we only get a piece of any NEW treasure we find...
That's a whole other conversation.
The beauty is most businesses that have a couple books and courses already have the treasure.
They just need someone to come in and say “I think you’ve got some treasure over there in the corner. Let me polish it up, package it up and sell it. You pay me a cut once the sales come in, deal?”
Like the Ronin who just made $4,500 spotting courses a business owner had sitting there not being fully used.
He didn't try to improve their existing marketing.
He found existing content, polished it up, and packaged it into a new revenue stream.
Or the Ronin who made $10k helping turn unused content into a partnership deal.
Without competing with their existing operations.
Because we’re finding treasure they already own.
There's little to no downside for them.
The partners don't have to change anything they're currently doing.
And here's the beautiful part...
When you find a little treasure for them…
They might want you to look for more.
Right now we've got Ronin who have made $500 to $5k per deal as treasure hunters.
The difference of being a treasure hunter is night and day.
Service providers offer is usually some version of, "Pay me to make your existing stuff better." Which is a pretty good offer… better is good.
But a treasure hunters offer lands different… "I’ll pay you to find treasure in your business and all you gotta do is cut me in on the profits after the sales hit your bank account."
One creates resistance.
The other creates excitement.
Start finding treasure.
